Tree Bernstein

Years ago, I had a studio on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado, near Stage House Books. The second-hand bookstore had a free bin with marvelous old discarded books, some of which I carried back to my studio. With this wealth of material, I hit upon an idea to forge my own story into the heart of an old book, thereby creating a Book Forgery. Shows soon followed, appropriately, at libraries.
I liked that people who came to the exhibition paused to read the middle of the story. That ‘pause’ is important. An open book is an invitation to look inside.
